WebOct 25, 2014 · If you use a coil that says it needs a resistor why would you bypass the pink wire and run +12 v directly to the Pertronix. The resistor isn't needed to protect the Pertronix but to protect the coil. If you want to bypass the pink wire or use no ballast then at least get a coil designed to not need a ballast.
