The key, as with all fountain pens, is the nib, and despite the plain appearance, the nib lays the ink down quite smoothly, with the line thickness variable depending on how you hold and angle the pen. WebLAMY basic fountain pens have small plastic cartridges though, so while it is definitely a huge improvement in terms of avoiding plastic pens going to landfill, it isn’t zero waste as I still go through the little mini cartridges.
