Subtract piston diameter from the biggest bore diameter. This gives you the piston clearance. Piston clearance varies due to a number of factors. Diameter of the piston. I'm trying to check piston/wall clearance with feeler gauge and getting .003. One book I have says to subtract .001 from that number (giving me .002 clearance). Other books I have make no mention of any further calculation.

Webb6 sep. 2013 · The size of the skirt is 91.93mm, which is 3.6193, which is .0027 clearance. IMO, this should be considered the minimum clearance. If the pistons have coated skirts, then the coating is NOT included in the clearance. To measure the skirts to confirm they are the same size as marked, you will have to file or scrape off a small area of the coating.
