I agree with Xsleeper. The glue does the holding, the nails just provides a temporary means until the glue sets up. You can buy a brad nailer that shoots 1 1/2" brads, and that is quite sufficient for 1x face frames, since you have 1/2 of the brad length into the substrate. Upvote.
